Comment | It encodes for the DNA-binding protein that specifically binds DNA with two or more duplex repeats TTTAGGG recognized as telomeric repeat sequence. It bears high homology to Myb-like DNA binding motif present at the C-terminus. It is expressed ubiquitously. The protein is involved in negative regulation of telomere length and positive regulation of telomere stability. The phenotypes include telomere dysfunction, structural defects in vegetative and reproductive organs and formation of bridged chromosomes in pollen mother cells during anaphase.
