Comment
The stay green gene is strongly expressed in senescing leaves. It is involved in activating translational or posttranslational regulation of chlorophyll degrading enzymes. The plant with mutant form displayed stay green phenotype. These plants had higher chlorophyll content in the leaves and had stable LCHI and LHCII during leaf senescence.
