A population consisting of 165 recombinant inbred lines (RILs at F8 generation) was developed by single-seed descent from the cross between IR74 and Jalmagna. IR74 is a high-yielding, semidwarf, photoperiod-insensitive, and non-elongating cultivar developed at IRRI. Jalmagna is a traditional, tall, low-yielding, photoperiod-sensitive, and rapid-elongating rice from India.
The genetic map contained 144 markers, including 29 RFLP markers, 113 AFLP markers and two genes (sd1 and adh1), covering a total length of 2,339.9 cM, with an average interval of 17.9 10.3 cM between markers. The marker and map data for this population are kindly provided by Dr. M. Wissuwa.
