Comment | It is a single copy gene in O. sativa. Lacks endoribonuclease activity (RNAse) due to replacement of histidine amio acid residues from the active site by lysine and tyrosine. mRNA expressed preferentially in stem/culm at three and eight leaf stage (booting stage). Very low amount of expression detected in leaves at three and eight leaf stages. No expression in roots. The expression profile was carried out on JX89 and ext37 germplasms. The ext37 line was derived by from JX89 by EMS mutagenization. The ext37 is increased tillering dwarf mutant and it shows down regulation of rrp gene at 3 leaf stage. No changes observed at eight leaf stage.
