Comment Aux/IAA genes encode short-lived transcriptional factors that act to repress the expression of early auxin response genes when auxin concentrations are low. Relative mRNA levels of iaa12 are highest in flowerss. There is a 250% increase in mRNA levels when coleoptile segments of 3-day-old etiolated seedlings are treated with 30 micro mols of 2,4-D in comparison to auxin depleted controls. Shares similarity in expression with the sister gene iaa1.
