Comment Aux/IAA genes encode short-lived transcriptional factors that act to repress the expression of early auxin response genes when auxin concentrations are low. Relative mRNA levels of iaa20 are highest in the Callus; they are lowly expressed in other tissues. There is a massive increase in mRNA expression levels when coleoptile segments of 3-day-old etiolated seedlings are treated with 30 micro mols of 2,4-D in comparison to auxin depleted controls. iaa20 is a sister gene to iaa9 and shares similar expression profiles.
