Description Gene encodes for the enzyme 1-Deoxy-D-xylulose-5-phosphate synthase. It
catalyzes the first step in the methylerythritol 4-phosphate (MEP) pathway by
converting pyruvate and glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate (G3P) into 1-deoxy-D-xylulose
5-phosphate (DXP). The paralogs are DXS1 (GR:0101295) and DXS3 (GR:0101297). Its
expression in seedlings was upregulated 2 folds in the UV light-illuminated
conditions, compared to the non-illuminated etiolated seedlings.
