Type Gene
Species Oryza sativa (Oryza sativa) [ GR_tax:013681 ]
Germplasm
Description The gene is essential for homologous chromosome synapsis at meiosis I. It
encodes a HORMA-domain protein and is an ortholog of Saccharomyces cerevisiae
HOP1 (YIL072W) and Arabidopsis ASYNAPTIC 1 (ASY1, At1g67370). The PAIR2 protein
associates with axial elements at leptotene and zygotene stages of Meiosis and
is removed from the AEs of arm regions when homologous chromosomes have
synapsed. It promotes homologous chromosome synapsis.
