Description A new drought-inducible cDNA clone, I12A1, was mapped near to this QTL region
with a distance of 7.1 cM. This putative gene I12A1 codes for a UDP-glucose 4-
epimerase homolog, which is involved in the cell wall biogenesis pathway and
hence may be implicated in modulating the ability of rice roots to penetrate
further into the substratum when exposed to drought conditions.
