Description Assay is an indicator of balance between the activities of Calvin cycle enzymes
and electron carriers in the light reactions. The ratio of Chl-a to Chl-b (Chl
a:b) were analyzed at 5 days after heading. For determining Rubisco content
soluble proteins (2 µg) were subjected to SDS-PAGE using 12.5% (w/v) gels
containing 0.1% (w/v) SDS, and the gels were stained with Coomassie brilliant
blue. The intensity of the band corresponding to Rubisco was measured with an
image analyzer (Umax Technologies, Calif.). The means of ten replications per
line were used in the data analysis. Phenotypic effect contributed by Nipponbare
allele. Chromosomal locations of putative QTLs were determined by single-factor
analysis (one-way ANOVA) with the general linear model procedure of QGENE. Two-
way ANOVAs for epistatic interaction were also carried out with QGENE at Pd0.01
threshold. The tests were done only with marker loci linked to QTLs with a single-
factor P of d0.01 to reduce the likelihood of committing a type-I error.
