Editors' Note

H.I. Oka and G.S. Khush

The Rice Genetics Newsletter will be issued annually as a publication of the Rice Genetics Cooperative. The success of the Cooperative depends upon the cooperation of the members. The editors regret to read the statement by the Committee on Genetic Stocks that "to-date we have not received any seeds or the list of stocks available with the members". We hope the situation will improve in near future.

For the future issues, we request the cooperation of all the members in the following matters:

1) Please send us list of your publications on rice genetics, not listed in Vols. 1,2 and 3 (including those by your colleagues). It is difficult for us to search and list all the new publications.

2) If your address in the Mailing List (in Vol. 2, and supplement in this volume) is incorrect, or if you have moved to a new address, please write to us immediately. Otherwise, you may fail to receive the new issues. 4, before the end of June, 1987.

4) Your comments and suggestions, for the improvement of this channel of communication among rice geneticists, will be appreciated.

Treasurer's Report

The total membership of RGC now stands at 507. More members paid dues in 1985 than in 1986. We urge those members who have not paid the membership fee to- date to remit the dues without delay. The printing costs for RGN 2 and RGN 3 were met by the National Institute of Genetics, Japan. RGC is grateful to the Institute for this generous support. The costs of mailing RGN 2 via airmail were met from the membership fees. The financial statement as of December 31, 1986 is as follows:
