15. Location of gene shr-1 on chromosome 3

Gene shr-1 for shrunken endosperm was suggested to be linked with rl-2 for rolled leaf and located on Nishimura's chromosome 3 (Yano et al. 1984). For reconfirmation, linkage relations were observed between shr-1 and four marker genes on chromosome 3. From F\2\ data, the recombination values of shr-1 with A, rl-2, d-10, and lax, and those between the latter four loci were estimated as shown in Fig. 1. These values generally are in accord with those reported by Iwata and Omura (1971, 1977). The sequence of lax-d-10-A-rl-2 on chromosome 3 is also known already (Iwata and Omura 1984). Therefore, shr-1 is located between A and rl-2 (Fig.1).
