A number of molecular markers and agronomically
useful genes are located on the RFLP maps as shown in Table 4. These information
are important for marker-based gene cloning and marker-aided selection.
By using molecular markers flanking the important genes, map-based gene
cloning is progressing in bacterial blight disease resistance genes (626.
627), blast disease resistance genes (78, 271, 278) and the gene controlling
gall midge resistance (279,645).
