Research notes consist of contributions by members. Short articles reporting new findings in rice genetics (including physiological, ecological and cytogenetics, evolution, new breeding materials, new techniques, etc.) are invited. Each article should be an abstract, typewritten with double spacing, in principle, on two pages (or less) using paper of A4 size. References should be given when citation is made in the text. Tables and figures are accepted when considered necessary. As to other respects, please refer to "The aim and scope of the Rice Genetics Newsletter" presented in this issue.
List of genes and genetic stocks presented in this issue covers a part of research institu tions only. To make it more complete, please provide the editor with information on your experimental lines with particular genes or genetic mechanisms, so far as you can offer the seeds to other workers upon request. Information needed is gene symbol, character expressed, linkage group/chromosome (if known), your strain code, and references (publications concerned).
Members are invited. The mailing list given in this issue is incomplete. Please write to the Secretary applying for membership by yourself, or introducing your colleagues. Annual fee is undecided yet (free at present).
Subscription by libraries is invited. Price is undecided yet. If you think that the Library of your institution needs subscription, please write to the Secretary: Professor Y. Futsuhara, Faculty of Agriculture, Nagoya University, Chigusa-ku, Nagoya, 464 Japan.
