Online Rice (Oryza) Gene Symbol submission form: Help Document

Please use this form to suggest new symbol for rice gene. A confirmation e.mail will be sent to you by our curators within three days.

Suggested Rice Gene Symbol Information

*Gene Symbol: Type the suggested gene symbol.

Synonym: Type the synonyms if any.

*Gene Name: A text suggesting the new name for the gene (full name of the suggested symbol).

*Gene Description: A text describing, the biological fuction(s) associated with suggested new gene, suggeted protein families, synonyms, homologs, orthologs, mutagenesis technique, genetic background, environmental condition related with the mutant or phenotye, etc. used to identify the new gene and its fuction.

Reference for the Rice Gene Symbol

Ref. Category: Mention the documentary evidence for the suggested gene, for example, published or personal communication. The option "curator" is for internal use.
Curator: do not select unless you have been authorized as a curator by the Gramene.
Ref. Source: If the option "published" is selected in the "Reference category", then select from the drop of menu, the source of publication, whether it is

PubMed: if an article is available from PubMed.
AGRICOLA: if an article is available from AGRICOLA.
BIOSIS previews: if an article is available from BIOSIS previews.
CAB abstracts: if an article is available from CAB abstracts.
ISBN: Mention the ISBN number of the publication, published Journal (if not listed by PubMed) or Book.
Web site: if the information is presented on a web site, preferably authored by a scientist or hosted by a scientific institution.
Database: if the information is available from a scientific database e.g. OryzaBase, TAIR, SGD, MIPS, GenBank, EMBL, Expasy, etc.

Reference details: please provide the complete citation for the reference which should be cited for the mutant. It should include author, year, title, journal title, volume, page, etc.

Location on chromosome: Please give cM location on the specific map.
