| Comment | The AMT2 belongs to ammonium transporter family of proteins, containing 11 putative transmembrane-spanning domains. Heterologous expression of AMT2 in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae mutant 31019b showed that the encoded protein exhibits ammonium transport activity. Northern blot analysis and RT-PCR showed expression in roots only. The expression was induced by ammonium treatment. It has two closest rice homologs namely, AMT1 (Q947N1) and OsAMT3 (Q947M9). |
