Comment Aux/IAA genes encode short-lived transcriptional factors that act to repress the expression of early auxin response genes when auxin concentrations are low. Relative mRNA levels of iaa12 is highest in the Callus, it is also present in etioted shoots and roots. Relative mRNA levels are extremely low in green shoots and flowers. There is approximately a 75% increase in mRNA levels when coleoptile segments of 3-day-old etiolated seedlings are treated with 30 micro mols of 2,4-D in comparison to auxin depleted controls. Shares imilarity with the sister gene iaa31.
