Comment Aux/IAA genes encode short-lived transcriptional factors that act to repress the expression of early auxin response genes when auxin concentrations are low. Relative mRNA levels of iaa18 are highest in the flower, are abundant in etioted shoots and roots. Relative mRNA levels are low in green shoots and very low in the calllus. There is little difference in mRNA levels when coleoptile segments of 3-day-old etiolated seedlings are treated with 30 micro mols of 2,4-D in comparison to auxin depleted controls.
