GRAMENE GENEGR:0200536
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Tassel compact silky mass, upright, with pistillate and staminate florets; ear
silky and proliferated; possibly = zag2. Ear with secondary florets develops
when pistillate tassel is removed. Some pollen usually shed. First reported by
Phipps (1928) and also as Sorghum Tassel (Hayes & Brewbaker 1928), ts4 was
assigned by Emerson et al (1935) to Chromosome 3. See Nickerson & Dale AJB
42:195, 1955; they also describe an allele ts4-a found by E.G. Anderson. Genetic
2005 3 coordinates determined from these recombination and map data: rg1 -9- ts4
-36- na1 -23- a1; T1-3(8995) -3- ts4 -21- lg2 -33- a1; TB-3La ts4; see MaizeGDB
ID:935351; 136380; 108086. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database
and the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
