ID 825
Name rg1 (GENE SYMBOL)
Synonyms (1) ragged leaves1
GRAMENE GENEGR:0200459
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Dominant Rg1 plants develop defective tissue between veins of older leaves,
causing holes and tearing. Often in "zebra-banded" pattern. Trait shows when
plants are about half grown. Shortly before flowering, longitud inal chlorotic
areas appear in the leaves. These areas increase in length as the plant grows.
The vascular bundles may break in one or more places and the leaves fail to
attain the normal size. Frequently all the foliage on the plant shows the
lesions although in some lines only the upper leaves are conspicuously affected.
Viability good in heterozygous form; produces pollen and sometimes ears.
Homozygote extremely weak or lethal. Classification best at flowering or later.
Genetic 2005 3 coordinates determined from these recombination and map data: "d1

umc102 -1- (rg1, bnl6.06a) [data conflict]; see MaizeGDB ID:112764; 935272;

position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
