Description Recessive intensifier of expression of R1 plant color alleles and of weakly
expressed B1 alleles in plant tissue. Enhances anthocyanin pigmentation in cob
husks, sheaths, and leaf margins of plants approaching maturity. Does not affect
aleurone pigmentation (Styles and Coe 1986). Genetic 2005 3 coordinates
determined from these recombination and map data: a3 -9- a1 -6- umc96; TB-3Ll
a3; see MaizeGDB ID:105296; 304891. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB
