Description (was emb*-8518) embryo development blocked at transition to early coleoptilar
stage. Williams and Tsang (1992) termed a cDNA from gene Emb5; in absence of
mapping information, renamed esp5 (embryo specific protein5). Suspensor normal,
scutellum enlarged, irregular, no shoot apex (J. Clark). Genetic 2005 2
coordinates determined from these recombination and map data: T1-2c emb5; see
MaizeGDB ID:150605. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and
the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
