Germplasm
Description Seedling and plant with distinctive golden yellow cast; stub of cut seedling
displays golden vs. green. Plant with yellowish green leaves, sheaths, and
nodes, best seen at flowering. In some backgrounds clearly expressed in
seedlings. Best recognized after cutting across the stem of a 2-leaf seedling
just above the ground and observing the cut end for a yellow color a few hours
later. There is an allele that was previously called 'ws2'. However, this is
not the same 'ws2' that is a duplicate factor with ws1. Genetic 2005 10
coordinates determined from these recombination and map data: "php15013 -11.8-

g1; see MaizeGDB ID:136521; 136874; 299162.". This gene was originally curated
in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed on the maize bins map
if feasible.
