Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description In dominant Rld1 plants, leaves are tightly rolled and tend to be entangled;
ligular flaps on abaxial surface of leaf; resembles Ce1. In dominant Rld1,
leaves tightly rolled with epidermal hairs and bulliform cells found on the
abaxial leaf surface. Ligule flaps variably expressed opposite to site of
normal ligule expression on abaxial surface of the leaf. Mutant expression
begins after 4-leaf stage. At flowering there is extensive entanglement of
leaves. Closely resembles, but is not allelic to, curled entangled (Ce1)
described by Pawar and Mouli (MNL47:17). (Lane, Chourey). Genetic 2005 9
coordinates determined from these recombination and map data: (csu54b -0-
rld1); npi209a -12- npi97b -14- rld1; see MaizeGDB ID:113995; 136505. This gene
was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed
on the maize bins map if feasible.
