Description (was hcf136; hcf111 allelic); fails to accumulate monocistronic petB and petD
mRNA's; lacks cytochrome f/b6 and photosystem I polypeptides (aka hcf111,
hcf136). Loss of the cytochrome bf complex and decrease of photosystem I due to
a defect in processing and translation of specific chloroplast mRNA's (Barkan
1994). Uncovered by TB-7Lb (Cook and Miles 1989). Induced in Mutator background
(Cook and Miles 1988b, 1989). Not allelic to hcf102. (Polacco). Genetic 2005 7
coordinates determined from these recombination and map data: TB-7Lb(7) crp1;
see MaizeGDB ID:104606. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database
and the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
