ID 1964
Name pn1 (GENE SYMBOL)
Synonyms (2)
GRAMENE GENEGR:0200420
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Dominant Pn1 plants have long, thin papery glumes in ear and, less obviously, in
tassel. The glumes are thick and fleshy when immature but become thin and paper
as they dry with maturation of the ear, less obvious in the tassel. Variable
expression, with extreme phenotypes not due to a dosage effect but mostly due to
genetic modifiers. (W. Galinat). Genetic 2005 7 coordinates determined from
these recombination and map data: px3 -15- pn1 ; see MaizeGDB ID:935871. This
gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was
displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
