GRAMENE GENEGR:0200302
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Dominant Les9 plants have late expression of small necrotic lesions. Dominant
Les9 leaf blade uniformly covered by many tiny chlorotic spots that turn watery
brown then necrotic and enlarge to form small brown lesions, each with a tiny
white spot in the center. Expressed late (at 9- to 14-leaf stage, depending on
genetic background). More extreme and earlier in W23; less extreme and later in
Mo20W. Mutant plants lighter green and smaller than normal. hir3 upregulated in
Les9 mutant. Genetic 2005 7 coordinates determined from these recombination and
map data: o2 -14- v5 -5- ra1 -3- les9 -9- gl1; see MaizeGDB ID:935663. This gene
was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed
on the maize bins map if feasible.
