GRAMENE GENEGR:0200180
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Cuticle wax altered; leaf surface bright, water adheres. Cuticle wax greatly
reduced; seedling leaf surfaces bright instead of having the bluish "bloom" of
normal plants. In electron micrograph, surface wax has rice-grain shaped
particles and reduced numbers of the star shaped particles that occur in normal
plants (Bianchi and Marchess 1960 Z Veresbungsl 91:214). Water misted onto
plants adheres in many tiny drops. Expression diminishes to maturity, but can be
distinguished in leaf sheath margins of healthy full grown plants. Genetic 2005
