ID 1946
Name bd1 (GENE SYMBOL)
Synonyms (1) branched silkless1
GRAMENE GENEGR:0200049
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Ear silkless with indeterminate branches at base; tassel proliferated, bushy.
Ear much branched with basal branches much ramified; silks lacking or sporadic
to give a sterile inflorescence. Tassel branched normally but with tassel
spikelets bearing extra staminate florets to give an inflorescence with an
overall thickened appearance but normal fertility (B. Veit). Some alleles have
a few fertile florets (Chuck et al. 2002). Genetic 2005 7 coordinates
determined from these recombination and map data: ij1 -40- (bd1 -22- T7-
9a(L.63)); bd1 -17.7- T6-7(027-6)(L.97); T6-7(4964)(L.78) -35.4- bd1; T6-
7(5181)(L.86) -2- bd1; see MaizeGDB ID:850168; 304703; 304772; 304777. This
gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was
displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
