ID 1464
Name rab28 (GENE SYMBOL)
Synonyms (1) abscisic acid-responsive28
GRAMENE GENEGR:0200719
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description cDNA and genomic clones, inducible by ABA in embryos and young leaves and by water-
stress in leaves; similar to cotton LeaD-34. X59138 from W64A, produces a 278
aa, 27.7kDa protein with 4-6 domains of alpha-structure alternating with beta-
structure. Contains one ORF interrupted by a 129 bp genomic insertion fanked by
GT and AG border sequences. The rab28 promoter is GC-rich with a TATA-box at -
42, a putative CAT-box at -76. Promoter also contains CACGTGC at -146; this
sequence is in the 5' upstream regions of other ABA responsive genes and in
maize, confers strong ABA-dependent transient expression. One site for nuclear-protein-
binding. Two ABREs, ABA-responsive elements, required for induction (Busk 1999).
This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was
displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
