Description Yellowish crossbands on older leaves. Expression variable. Classification
difficult in many stocks. Does not show in early seedling stage; normal amount
of chlorophyll diminishes with the age of the plant. When the seedlings are old
enough, minute yellowish green dots appear as a result of the disappearance of
chlorophyll. These dots are numerous and arranged close together forming regular
transverse stripes. Later the dots enlarge and become more or less continuous
streaks (Demerec 1921). Genetic 2005 5 coordinates determined from these
recombination and map data: pr1 -33- (v2 -0- zb1); pr1 -25- hsf1 -26- zb1; see
MaizeGDB ID:831983; 165118. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB
Database and the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
