GRAMENE GENEGR:0200258
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Dominant Hsf1 plants have pubescent sheaths and leaf margins; liguled enations
at leaf margins. Dominant Hsf1, abnormally hairy on abaxial sheath and
distinctly hairy along the entire margin of the blade. Blade tends to be
narrowed, leaf position tends to be irregular. Liguled, sheathlike enations at
leaf margins. Coleoptiles occasionally have fused blade tissue along the margin.
Axillary buds in the coleoptilar node; the two keels of the prophyll and the
axil of the first tassel branch often give rise to adventitious shoots, ears and
bracts, respectively. Female florets occasionally produce a trifurcated silk. In
some cases, both florets in a spikelet develop. Male florets can produce 7-10
anthers from the normally aborted pistil primordium. Primary roots have an
extended zone of elongation. See Bertrand-Garcia and Freeling 1991 Am J Bot
78:747). (R. Bertrand). Genetic 2005 5 coordinates determined from these
recombination and map data: (hsf1 umc126a); pr1 -25- hsf1 -26- zb1; see MaizeGDB
ID:882279; 165118. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the
map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
