GRAMENE GENEGR:0200139
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Large, crumpled, floury, nonviable kernel. Endosperm of predominantly floury
starch with central or dispersed cavities and some corneous starch confined to
the base of the kernel. Embryo small, degenerate, frequently necrotic with much
reduced scutellum and embryo proper but with a large normal suspensor capped by
a small amount of necrotic meristem; developmentally blocked at Abbe and Stein
transition stage. Cultured immature embryos failed to grow. Reduced transmission
in some backgrounds. Crumpled endosperm; lethal; anthocyanins and carotenoids
reduced; cultured embryos not obtained. Genetic 2005 5 coordinates determined
from these recombination and map data: TB-5La(5) dek9 ; see MaizeGDB ID:105615.
This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was
displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
