GRAMENE GENEGR:0200128
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Collapsed endosperm; lethal; cultured embryos normal. Small, variably collapsed,
nonviable kernels. Endosperm has little starch and in some cases a very thin
corneous layer. Embryos range from degenerate to near-normal. Cultured immature
embryos produce small green seedlings with poor root branching. Endosperm-
>embryo interaction unidirectional, mutant endosperm inhibits normal embryo
(photo, see Fig. 1 Chang and Neuffer 1994 Maydica 39:9-18). Genetic 2005 5
coordinates determined from these recombination and map data: TB-5La(5) dek26 ;
see MaizeGDB ID:105604. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database
and the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
