GRAMENE GENEGR:0200373
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Pale green seedling becoming necrotic; dark brown exudate; lethal. Pale green
seedling becoming necrotic at 2-leaf stage. Necrosis begins at the leaf tip and
moves rapidly down each leaf to its full length in 24 hours. Necrosis is
accompanied by drops of dark brown exudate on leaf tip and on underside of leaf
blade. Lethal, but under cool moist conditions and favorable genetic background
some mutants survive to produce plants with many longitudinal necrotic streaks
on leaf blade. Genetic 2005 4 coordinates determined from these recombination
and map data: TB-4Lf(4) nec5; see MaizeGDB ID:105632. This gene was originally
curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed on the maize
bins map if feasible.
