GRAMENE GENEGR:0200356
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Dominant Ms41 plants male sterile. Dominant Ms41 plants may exsert anthers and
can produce limited viable pollen in some backgrounds and in some environments.
When degeneration occurs, it is obvious by the mid-vacuolate microspore stage.
Mutation observed among progeny from pollen mutagenesis with ethyl
methanesulfonate. Genetic 2005 4 coordinates determined from these recombination
and map data: "(ms41 -4- T4-9b, L.29 wx1); ms44 -14- ms41; see MaizeGDB
ID:935554; 935869.". This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and
the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
