GRAMENE GENEGR:0200208
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Cytosolic, C subunit 3; coding sequence homology to gpc4, unique 3' untranslated
region. Encodes NAD+ dependent cytosolic enzyme (GAPC3; E.C. 1.2.1.12). Active
as a tetramer. Intra/interlocus hybrid tetramers occur (see also Gpc1, Gpc2,
Gpc4), Russell and Sachs 1991 Mol Gen Genet 229:219). Involved in glycolysis and
gluconeogenesis. Anaerobically inducible in roots and preemergent seedling
shoots (Russell and Sachs 1989 Plant Cell 1:793 & 1992 Plant Physiol 99:615).
High levels in developing embryo and endosperm, but not detectable in leaves
(Russell and Sachs 1991 Mol Gen Genet 229:219). Molecular clone (Russell and
Sachs 1989 Plant Cell 1:793). Has high homology to Gpc4 in protein coding region
(Russell and Sachs 1991 Mol Gen Genet 229:219). umc211(gap3)(cDNA pGAPC3).
Genetic 2005 4 coordinates determined from these recombination and map data:
gpc3 -16- gpc1 -11- bnl15.45; see MaizeGDB ID:892170. This gene was originally
curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed on the maize
bins map if feasible.
