Description:

This is the first genetic map of wild rice (Zizania palustris L., 2n=2x=30), a native aquatic grain of northern North America. The mapping population was developed from a cross of a single plant of the cultivated variety Johnson to a single plant from a natural lake population, Dora Lake, Minn. The mapping population includes 172 F2 individuals derived from the self-pollination of a single F1 plant. The linkage map consists of 121 RFLP markers on 16 linkage groups spanning 1805 cM.
