Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Requires extended growth and short days for flowering; vegetatively totipotent
with gt1 and factors for perennialism. Vegetatively totipotent with gt1 and
factors for perennialism to produce a form of perennialism in maize comparable
to that of Diploperennis teosinte (W. Galinat). Mutant plants remain vegetative
while normal segregates flower. When tassel is present, there is often
vegetative proliferation of propagatable plantlets, with roots, arising from
inside the glumes of the basal floret of many individual spikelets. Zinc finger
similarity. Genetic 2005 1 coordinates determined from these recombination and
map data: id1 -1- bz2; umc83a - id1 - an1 - bz2; see csh4(id1); see MaizeGDB
ID:104353; 104354; 60798; 934700. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB
Database and the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
