GRAMENE GENEGR:0200229
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Missing cytochrome bf complex; yellow-green seedling. Yellow green seedling
with fluorescence induction kinetics class IX (Leto and Miles 1977; Miles 1980,
1982; Metz et al. 1983). Has loosely stacked grana (Miles and Daniel 1974).
Seedlings resistant to diquat spraying (see photo, Miles 1976). Uncovered by
TB-1La-5S8041, TB-1La (Leto and Miles 1977, 1979; Leto 1982; Miles et al.
1985). Not allelic to hcf6, hcf38 (Leto and Miles 1979). Primary deficiency in
cytochrome b6/f complex and plastoquinone. Aberrant minor 3.3 kb transcript
hybridizing to petB and petD (Barkan et al. 1986). Classification: excellent
hcf trait; excellent yellow-green trait. Viability: lethal at 3- to 4-leaf
stage. (Polacco). Not allelic to hcf6 or hcf38. Genetic 2005 1 coordinates
determined from these recombination and map data: hcf2 T1-5(8041); source of
data unclear; TB-1La(1) hcf2; see MaizeGDB ID:104675; 104676. This gene was
originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed on
the maize bins map if feasible.
