Description Ears many-ranked (maize) dominant to two-ranked (Z. mays ssp. parviglumis). Two-
ranked spikelets (tr) in the ear and in the central branch of the tassel of
teosinte is recessive to many-ranked spikelets (Tr) in ear and central branch of
the tassel of maize; mutation to the teosinte form occurs in maize (Langham 1940
MNL14:21). Compare QTL RANK of Doebley, mapped close to umc6. This gene was
originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed on
the maize bins map if feasible.
