Germplasm
Description Relative root length was assayed to evaluate phenotypic variation in Aluminium
tolerance. It was measured as the ratio of the maximum root length under
Aluminium stress divided by the maximum root length in the control. The maximum
root length was calculated as an average of the greatest length and the second
greater length root of each plant. It was measured for the parents and the
entire population lines after stress for 4 weeks. The QTL for Al tolerance was
identified by unconditional QTL mapping based on the phenotypic means of
relative root length measured at the 4th week of stress. The variation in RRL at
the 4th week after stress across the population, and the molecular markers
linked to the putative QTLs, were analyzed by Qgene. The threshold for declaring
a putative QTL for Al tolerance was LOD >2.4.
