ID 515
Name hcf1 (GENE SYMBOL)
Synonyms (3)
GRAMENE GENEGR:0200216
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Affects NADP+ oxidoreductase; green seedling. Green or slightly yellow-green
seedling, not lethal at seedling stage. Good hcf fluorescence with UV, resistant
to diquat (Miles and Leto 1975), photo induction kinetics class IX (Miles 1980;
Leto and Miles 1977). This mutant and the first hcf mutants were isolated by
Miles and co-workers by screening M.G. Neuffer's mutant families, induced using
ethyl methanesulfonate treatment of pollen (Daniel and Miles 1972; Miles 1980).
Uncovered by TB-1Sb-2L4464; probably not uncovered by TB-1Sb (Leto and Miles
1977a, 1979; Leto 1982; Miles et al. 1985). Primary deficiency in ferredoxin-
NADP oxidoreductase (Miles and Daniel 1974), with some reduction in
photophosphorylation (Miles 1980, 1982). Not allelic to hcf3, hcf15 (Leto and
Miles 1977b). Classification: by hcf trait, good to excellent. By deficiency in
chlorophyll, fair to good. (Polacco). Not allelic to to hcf3 or hcf15. Genetic
2005 2 coordinates determined from these recombination and map data: T1-2(4464)
hcf1; see MaizeGDB ID:104669. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB
Database and the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
