TO TERM {descriptionTO:0000503 (leaf rolling time)
Trait Nameleaf rolling time
Trait SymbolLFRLTM
Type QTL
Species Oryza sativa (Oryza sativa) [ GR_tax:013681 ]
Germplasm
Description The time taken for the leaf to reach a leaf rolling score of 5. The averages
from 5 different plants were used for QTL analyses. For the assay, topmost fully
expanded leaves of five plants were removed near the base and placed in a
chamber (28C, RH 60%, 19.2MJper square meter). Leaf rolling due to dehydration
was characterized on a score of 1 (unrolled) to 5 (completely rolled). The flag
leaves at 70 days after transplanting were used for analyses. Phenotypic effect
contributed by Kasalath allele. The means of ten replications per line were used
in the data analysis. Chromosomal locations of putative QTLs were determined by
single-factor analysis (one-way ANOVA) with the general linear model procedure
of QGENE. A probability level of 0.01 was used as the threshold for detecting
significant differences in the mean values of the two genotypic classes,
homozygous for Nipponbare and Kasalath alleles. Two-way ANOVA for epistatic
interaction were also done with QGENE at this threshold. The trait is not
related to either of the abaxial or adaxial stomatal frequencies.
