Description Space to stem ratio is calculated as space/stem=space/stem numbers. Space=1/3
(width/2)2plant height and stem or culm numbers is the total number of culms in
a plant, which is equal to total number of tillers. The means of ten
replications per line were used in the data analysis. Phenotypic effect
contributed by Nipponbare allele. Chromosomal locations of putative QTLs were
determined by single-factor analysis (one-way ANOVA) with the general linear
model procedure of QGENE. Two-way ANOVAs for epistatic interaction were also
carried out with QGENE at Pd0.01 threshold. The tests were done only with marker
loci linked to QTLs with a single-factor P of d0.01 to reduce the likelihood of
committing a type-I error.
