ID 508
Name dek4 (GENE SYMBOL)

GRAMENE GENEGR:0200135
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Germless; floury endosperm; cultured embryos green, narrow leaved. Small,
floury, sometimes collapsed kernel with reduced anthocyanin or carotenoid
pigments, even though appropriate kernel color genes are present. The embryo is
smaller and has unhealthy appearance but germinates to produce a lighter green,
narrow leaf lethal seedling. Mutant is viable in embryo culture. Endosperm-
embryo interaction bidirectional, normal endosperm or embryo partially
correcting mutant embryo or endosperm, respectively (Chang and Neuffer 1994
Maydica 39:9-18). Genetic 2005 2 coordinates determined from these recombination
and map data: T1-2(4464) dek4; see MaizeGDB ID:104507. This gene was originally
curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed on the maize
bins map if feasible.
