TO TERM {descriptionTO:0000529 (abaxial stomatal frequency)
Trait Nameabaxial stomatal frequency
Trait SymbolABXSTOFQ
Type QTL
Species Oryza sativa (Oryza sativa) [ GR_tax:013681 ]
Germplasm
Description Number of stomata present on the abaxial surface of the leaf. The number of
stomata was counted at 400X magnification repeated in five impressions (made
with finger nail polish) of a leaf from each of five plants. The flag leaves at
70 days after transplanting were used for analyses. Phenotypic effect
contributed by Nipponbare allele. The means of ten replications per line were
used in the data analysis. Chromosomal locations of putative QTLs were
determined by single-factor analysis (one-way ANOVA) with the general linear
model procedure of QGENE. A probability level of 0.01 was used as the threshold
for detecting significant differences in the mean values of the two genotypic
classes, homozygous for Nipponbare and Kasalath alleles. Two-way ANOVA for
epistatic interaction were also done with QGENE at this threshold. The trait
correlated to adaxial stomatal frequency (r=0.66; P<0.01).
