GRAMENE GENEGR:0200124
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Collapsed endosperm; lethal; cultured embryos not obtained. Small, extremely
collapsed nonviable kernel; most lack endosperm and have a small embryo cavity
and a shrivelled, degenerate, Abbe and Stein (1954) transition-stage embryo;
exceptional cases may have some floury and corneous endosperm and an embryo with
primary shoot; these may germinate to produce small, green, narrow leaf
seedlings. In culture most immature embryos do not germinate. Mutant kernels
often compressed by and hidden between larger normal kernels. No linkage found
with wx1 T1-9(4995)(1L.19) (Sisco 1988). Genetic 2005 1 coordinates determined
from these recombination and map data: TB-1La(1) dek22 1995; see MaizeGDB
ID:104521. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map
position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
