GRAMENE GENEGR:0200122
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Discolored, scarred endosperm; lethal; cultured embryos green. Small, collapsed
or wrinkled, opaque discolored, nonviable kernel. Endosperm is floury and has
small amounts of corneous starch. Kernels often have degenerate patches and a
brownish discoloration of the aleurone. Embryo small and weak but
morphologically complete. Cultured immature embryos produce small, weak,
yellowish green, lethal seedlings. Endosperm-embryo interaction bidirectional,
normal endosperm or embryo partially correcting mutant embryo or endosperm,
respectively (Chang and Neuffer 1994 Maydica 39:9-18). Genetic 2005 1
coordinates determined from these recombination and map data: TB-1La(1) dek2
1995; see MaizeGDB ID:105600. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB
Database and the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
