Description Electrophoretic mobility; null allele is known; cytosolic/glyoxysomal;
tetrameric; intra/interlocus hybrid bands occur. Expressed in scutellum
postimbibition, to a lesser extent in bundle sheath of green leaves, temporarily
in the aleurone during late kernel development; not in cob, husk or silk.
Transcript levels enhanced by o2 mutants (Habben et al 1993). Encodes the
predominant catalase in tissue cultures devoid of the hormone, 2,4-D (Racchi
1993). Genetic 2005 1 coordinates determined from these recombination and map
data: npi97a -1- cat2 -2- umc157a(chn); cat2 - T1-2(4464); see MaizeGDB
